Use a Story Quest Infusion: Rank 2 to synthesize an Explorer's Weapon.
[Synthesis]
Synthesis allows you the increase an item's grade, making it more powerful and in some cases unlocking additional stats.
Right-click an infusion in your bag to open the synthesis window, then right-click your weapon and infusion of choice to combine them.
Once both are selected, you can see the gold and labor cost associated with this action at the bottom.
Confirm the action by clicking the "Synthesis" button.
Using the "Auto-List" button allows you to automatically populate the materials side with up to 6 infusions at the same time, saving you some clicking time.

All items in-game follow this rarity path:
Basic > Grand > Rare > Arcane > Heroic > Unique > Celestial > Divine > Epic > Legendary > Mythic > Eternal

Use a Change Attempt to replace a synthesis stat on your equipment.
[Change Attempts]
Change Attempts can be accumulated by increasing the grade of equipment and up to a 5 attempts can be saved at the time to use later.
Click the Gear Upgrade button in your bag to access the Replace Effects window and right-click the equipment you wish to change the stats of in your bag to add it.
On the list of effects your item has, select the one your wish to replace and check the gold and labor cost associated with this action at the bottom.
Confirm the action by clicking the "Replace" button.
All stats your item could potentially have are displayed in a list that can be opened with the magnifying glass icon.
Once you get to the confirmation window, the invested Change Attempt will be consumed, even if you decide to cancel the action at that point.
